Calvin, my man i wish i could meet you with Kerem. Only you can smile like this. And nothing can tell more than this. No book can teach more than this. i love you man
What a precious smile! Looks like he is doing well Thank you Lord.Prayers continue for all of you.Thank you Kara for sharing your precious boy with all of us.
Hi, Kara, one more comment… the kids want to know how you get him dressed. Can you unattach the tubes to get a shirt over his head? And how id he doing today- does the smile mean he’s breathing easier now?
Love and prayers from the Rogers
Mary,
I’m a pediatric (well mostly neonatal ICU) nurse. The trach tubing that is hooked up to the vent comes apart and you can put a shirt on quickly enough that it doesn’t do any harm. I’m guessing he’s not dressed yet b/c the nurses want to monitor the new trach site as well as the IV site. He looks so happy to have the breathing out of this mouth! So handsome
I haven’t been leaving comments, but I’ve been thinking about your family, praying and waiting anxiously for updates. Thank you for sharing this photo. What a champ. He’s one amazing, beautiful, incredible baby. And you’re an amazing, beautiful, incredible mama.
Hi! I'm Kara, the official scribbler in this space. Life is filled with extraordinary heartbreak and joy. I like to write about it and faith lessons learned along the way.

This is the man of my life, Darryl. He may be quiet but life with him is not! Life is blessed and surprising by his side.
Darryl and I have been blessed with four kids — Sophie, Noah, Evelyn, and Calvin. Our youngest son, Calvin, has special needs. To read more about him see "Calvin's Story" above.
