How do you say thank you for a gift so large? So meaningful for the family? Yesterday we headed up to General RV in Wayland for the Make-A-Wish party for Calvin. We arrived to our camper fully set up with chairs and a little party. The finishing touches on the inside nearly undid me; new camping plates, trendy pillows, dishtowels, bug spray and silverware. Wow. Did I mention we get to keep this??? Or that this will be our first family vacation since Calvin was born? We are beyond blessed. Overwhelmed would be a good word.
Calvin loves the outdoors, the sounds of kids laughing and people chatting, the breeze rustling through the trees and the calls of the birds. He is never more peaceful than sitting outside on a beautiful day. What an exciting thing for us to bring him to the outdoors this summer! We are heading up to Lake Charlevoix in a few weeks and can’t wait.
Calvin has had a few rough weeks with respiratory issues but he keeps plugging through them and is enjoying many wonderful days. He is comfortable, happy, alert and obviously loving being at home with the whole gang. We are thanking God for these blissful days, days of respite and stocked full of joy.
Here are a few pictures of our day. Enjoy!
Below is Sheila, our first hospice early-care contact. She recommended Calvin to Make-A-Wish and has been a blessing to our family with visits and support.
Daddy and Calvin. Who knew that trach changes, meds, and feeding tubes would be a regular part of being a dad? He couldn’t ask for a more loving or attentive daddy.
